Text Box:
The stock RS Four RB25DET engine is easy to tune as the range of aftermarket parts available for the Skyline GTS will fit. The main restriction is the automatic box which is good for around a safe 350 bhp . This is enough for a lot of owners but a gearbox upgrade is readily available as well as kits to lower the car and improve handling .
Text Box: S — manual gearbox (series 2 only) could also have the full HICAS system
G — the most basic model
X — luxury trim including wood effect dash
V — top spec trim with most options usually included
Text Box: Stageas came with a choice of RWD or AWD Most cars in the UK are the RSFOUR model which is AWD .These have the single turbo RB25 DET engine as fitted to skyline GTS. Initially all Stageas were made as automatics. Even so the car had exceptional performance and roadholding for an estate car. An RSV Four model was also available . This had exactly the same engine but a more luxurious interior and had more electronic gadgets as standard.
Text Box: The Stagea cames with the Nissan Skylne engines, from the four cylinder non turbo 2 litre to the the 2.6 litre twin turbo RB26DETT found in the GTR . These twin turbo versions which were special order and built by Autech are even easier to tune . 400bhp is the norm and over 600 is easily possible whist still keeping the car perfectly driveable . They came with a full Autech bodykit , had GTR running gear, and a redesigned interior
Text Box: This website is to provide information about one of the least known and suprising estate cars ever built. Surprising—well how does an estate car than can be easily tuned to produce up to over 300 bhp with complete reliability sound. A close relative of the Nissan Skyline the Stagea can be tuned very easily to provide astonishing performance from a car as big as a Volvo V70 with handling to match.
Text Box: There is even a conversion kit available which changes the front to look like the famous Skyline R34 GTR. It is quite involved and means replacing virtually the complete front of the car . Even so this conversion has become quite popular in Japan and a number have imported into the UK . A few of these front conversions are now being built in the UK in fact the first was completed only recently.
Text Box: There are also many Nismo tuning parts available specifically for the Stagea including a special Nismo body kit with vented side skirts like the ultra rare and sought after 400R Skyline. No one is sure if a Nismo 260 RS was ever built as a new car with all these parts. If so this would certainly make it one of the rarest Nissans ever .
Text Box: There are a number of forums on the net where anyone can discuss any Stagea issue with other owners . These forums have become very popular and are the main source of information in the UK. It most cases they cost nothing to join in and are definitely the best way to find out about the car as you will be talking to people who actually own and drive a Stagea. They are easy to find on the web
however there will soon be links to them from here .
Text Box: The UK Stagea owners club was started in January 2009 . Currently we have nearly fifty paid up members which is not bad as we think that there are no more than around 150 Stageas in the UK . This number is growing all the time as more people discover the Stagea and realise just how good a car it is. So if you do own a Stagea or are just interested and want to know more about the car click the owners club link (also at the top of the page) or send an email to stageaownersclub@google.mail.com
Text Box: Although most of the Stageas in the UK are RS Fours Nissan produced many more models as it was possible to choose almost any of the levels of interior trim in either 2wd or with the ATTESSA AWD system.
The 2.5 litre RB25 six cylinder engine was probably the most popular engine for the Stagea and was available with or without a single turbo. The two litre RB20 four cylinder engine was also used but was never supplied with a turbo.
Text Box: A detailed comparison of the most common models can be found by clicking the button The Stagea Range at the top or bottom of any page.
A brief explanation of the Nissan models description is given below.
All model names are consistent except if looking at the Autech 260 RS which was a special order only . All the 260RS started off life as RS Fours and were built to order by Autech.
Text Box: 20 —4 cylinder RB20 non turbo 2 litre engine
25 or 2500 —6 cylinder RB25 2.5 litre engine
RS or T —6 cylinder RB25 single turbo 2.5 litre engine
FOUR — car has ATTESSA AWD system (without FOUR it is usually 2 wheel drive )

S — manual gearbox (series 2 only) could also have the full HICAS system

G — the most basic model

X — luxury trim including wood effect dash

V — top spec trim with most options usually included

Text Box: The series one version of the Stagea was first produced in October 1966 until late 1998 when the series two replaced it .
The main difference between the two models was that the engine was changed to the Neo 6 engine as fitted to the R34 GTT. There were other changes such as a redesigned front and grille as well as crystal rear lights The suspension was also different along with a few other minor changes.
Text Box: One new model was also introduced for the series two Stagea . It had a 5 speed manual gearbox as well as the option of the four wheel drive HICAS system used on the GTR
This was called the RS FOUR S .
This model carries a large premium as it is the only series one or two Stagea which had a manual gearbox as standard. The rare RS260 also was manual but this was a special order only from Autech
Text Box: It is also possible to fit the GTR twin turbo engine & manual gearbox in the Stagea .There are a handful of these conversions on the road in the UK at present although we know of at least three or four of these cars currently being built .This changes the car completely as with only mild tuning 400 bhp is the norm yet the car remains perfectly driveable .
